I'm not sure I agree with that. We web-boys tend not to assume too much about users' systems, based on some bad experiences out in the field. Keep in mind that 95% of PC users don't have a clue how to set color or display settings. I have studied that issue and am fairly good at deciding which format is best for which areas. With that in mind, I'd still like to be able to set the colors in an area so that I generate the most optimum file. After all, there's usually a web safe color that will work for a button or divider... so why not use it ? But, it's sounding like my basic goal of different palettes in different areas is not a quick fix.
