I just got a Toshiba DVD player which has a mode for viewing jpeg images on a CD. Some images I can view and others I can't. I can't see any obvious differences. There is a restriction to exif format, but using jhead, I can't see any relevant difference in the exif data. Perhaps it is not showing everything. The latest round of images were b/w, but at least one color image didn't show up. Any suggestions?

What options are you using in the "Save as JPEG" dialog box?
The options I'd be looking out for are Optimize and Progressive. They might not be supported by a simple hardware decoder expecting photos from a simple encoder in a digicam. "Progressive" especially. I'm not sure about Subsampling, I don't know what setting a digicam might use or if it even affects the file format (i.e it might just be an encoder option).

Hope this helps,
bye

I did discover by trial and error that eliminating Optimize and Progressive as options did seem to resolve the problem, at least in some cases. The DVD player does support progressive mode but apparently not for digital photos. Also, it won't handle grayscale images. They have to be converted to RGB. I hope that is all that is involved.
