Make sure you realize that becoming a game developer is not easy. I have seen students join the Computer Science program with the idea "hey that is fun I will program games" in mind and then quickly drop out. After Calculus and the first programming class(usually C++) they are quickly shown how hard it really is. Ask yourself. Would you want to become a Computer Scientist, look at the curriculum. If you think it is too hard or no way, becoming a game developer is not going to be any easier. In fact becoming a game developer requires additional skills in addition to being a Computer Scientist. A Computer Science degree is near/on the level of difficulty of an engineering degree. In short its one of the toughest 4 year degree programs. As far as a two year certificate in game programming. I don't think it is worth crap. What game company is going to hire you with a unknown program two year certificate when I got a guy who I know is smart because he has a certified 4 year degree in CS and some game experience. Then there is the fact that the game industry from what I have gathered is tough to get into if you don't have some experience in it. Really want to know the answer, pick up the phone and call Electronic Arts and some of the big companies that are likely to hire a developer without experience. Ask them what is reputable and where you should and shouldn't go. Anyone can offer a two year certificate, but are they really getting placed. I don't want to discourage you, I just want to offer a reality check. Good luck with your ventures.
