Right - tha tap is a physical piece of equipment that you put in line
between the sniffer and the port to be sniffed otherwise you only get
one way traffic, as you have found out.

Ask NAI what it would cost to get a tap. It looks like the size of a
cable TV box, though I think they make them more inline now...

As far as span - I think they mean a mirrired port - don't know if you
can do that on a 350.  Basically say the traffic on port # 9 is what
you want to monitor - you'd go into the device and tell port 8 to
mirror port 9 - then you tap (with the tap) port 8 and monitor traffic
there - this is protect port 9 from anything you might need to do that
could bring it down...

Hope that makes sense. We have been through this for some time trying
to figure it out too..
