Unless an attachment to the Usenet message is downloaded and run, the virus cannot be 
spread..some variants of this
ubiquitous message have several attachments which are infected.( Technically with a 
trojan, not a virus)
( NOTE: Some newsreaders ( are you listening MIcrosoft ?) can be set, unwisely, to 
automatically open attachments - If yours
can do this, make sure it does not!!!)
