I always read and post usenet articles on the Web (via Google or news.interbulletin.com or dbforums or newsone.net) without any specific Usenet Software or Server Access requirements and never get near any attachments so wasn't aware that a virus could be spread through UseNet. Is this a rare event? Maybe I'm naive - just like my ex-girlfriend said I was. I don't fully understand how UseNet is served but I'd have thought any server hosting UseNet should have top notch AV?
