I once had an autocad drawing that contained graphic files(s) that were no longer shown in the dialogue box however were still embedded within the drawing. The only way I could get rid of them was to load the drawing into intellicad. This allowed me to delete them where AutoCAD would not because it had lost the register. Try downloadijng an evaluation copy of intelliCAD from cadopia.com and have a play. It's just recovered another drawing that AutoCAD would only load 34% of for one of my cad monkeys. After an hour of doing what you have done we established there was a problem with the hatching. After deleting the hatching in IntelliCAD we could then load the drawing back into AutoCAD....... Go Figure.... The amount of times I've used IntelliCAD to fix AutoCAD drawings it has more than paid for itself.
