Can anyone help? sorry about the long > post, im new to this. with the info you've given, this is my assessment. It sounds to me like what's happening is related to your antivirus program, which can oftn be configured to scan incoming and outgoing files. If you have it set to do both of these most antivirus appz will hog the processor and can be very sparratic the way you describe, if the games you are playing are actually writing to files at about the rate your system is lagging. Try disabling the antivirus just as a test, and run your game. If your game runs smoothly check all your antivirus settings and re-enable the program. if this does nothing, you may want to post a bit more info about your system, including the currently running processes. i had a server app kill my framerate on games once, and that's on a 2.6ghz with a geforce4 card, playing a game over 5 years old. after killing the process, all was well. good luck liam
