SCSI is the only remaining communication channel wich is parallel, except for internal bus or chip to chip communication. Everything else is serial : SATA, ethernet up to 10 Go, Firewire, FCAL, Sonet, etc... There is a mix of high and low bandwith communication here. SCSI is thinking about going serial too.
