Re: TIAD for TBBS

Yep, got it up and kicking quite well !!! TBBS Box is a stock standard
386 with an Accton Network card in it.. Set the IPX stuff up on it
quite easily

Wow, talking to a 386 even! I got rid of all my non-Pentium stuff a while ago so my TBBS box is a P233. Needless to say it sits near idle a lot. :)

Gateway machine is running NT4 workstation. Installed the IPX stuff
and it worked ok.. ran Netterm (my telnet program) after TIAD was up
and running telnetted localhost and bingo !! local testing ok...
dialled into my ISP, ran command prompt in a window and ran ipconfig
giving me my dynamic address, then telnetted into it .. bingo
again...

I'm curious if you had to set your Network number. I've done a few tests with the verious Windows IPX stacks and this seems to be required to use SAP. (My assumption is that if you installed a nice Netware stack it would work without any tweaking.)

I'd say the most important thing is to make sure the network is up
and running ok first, then try a telnetting localhost whilst your not
dialed into the net ..

I'll post my batchfiles on the TBBS box, with a few pointers on
setting it up at it's end, and my NT settings if that will help
anyone...

Good advice! We do need to get some network configuration information up. I have successfully shared a drive from NT to a DOS box over IPX using Microsoft Client for DOS. Also the eSoft site still has some tech docs on the IPAD that also apply to TBBS.
