Hi, I'm just a novice of computer. I'm using Outlook Express to read message from "newsgroup" (OE say that is a news group) like comp.bbs.misc. Is "BBS" is an alias of "Newsgroup". If not, what BBS is which tool should we use to read BBS ? (I've already know that BBS is an acronym of Bulleting Board System).
And how about usenet ? Is it another name of BBS ? Thanks
it its more pure context, and dialup bbs, in which a modem capable computer connects to another modem capable computer, to exchange information, and interact as a user... Usually with ANSI-BBS emulation.
Today, this has stretched into ANSI-BBS telnet bbses, like the one I run, and more loosely to web-based bbses, and other proprietary software bbses... Most people consider it a bbs, if you can access it via a console, or terminal application...
This newsgroup, allong with alt.bbs.* is dedicated towards the discussion of these softwares, and sites...
