Until IBM offers a better replacement embedded CPU option,
qualified on their ASIC fab processes as well as available
as a standalone CPU, the 440 isn't going anywhere.

It probably won't even if a 64-bit version (640?  ;-)
intended for embedded applications shows up; sometimes the
extra 1-2 mm^2 matter, and 64-bittedness doesn't.
