Larry, I disagree. Metastability delay is statistically unbounded (although less than 3 ns in all but perverse cases). But you should not throw this in willy-nilly. Whenever you have a truly asynchronous interface, you should be aware of it. If many or most of your timings are prone to metastability, there is something wrong with the design approach...
