Try the "Paste Special" feature...use the text option. It's much easier than reformatting after each paste. using mouse: right click on the destination cell, click Paste Special, click text, then OK. using keyboard: Alt...e...s...t...Enter To answer your questions, changing the cell options will not force future pastes to conform to your style. When you paste, the cell takes the charasteristic of the source, not the destination. The only way to preserve the formatting is by using the Paste Special function. There are two different dialog boxes that appear depending on whether you are pasting from inside or outside your active Excel session. >From inside your excel, you can paste values.
