Q: system state backup sufficient, or how to protect Win2K

Somewhat true, each installed program is a self contained unit, and I can
stand to lose one at a time. And Windows (2000) is a self contained unit,
but I cannot stand to lose it, because when that happens, you lose
everything else.
My full backups will soon be approaching half the size of my harddrive, and
I want to shed its size.

In my case if my pooter poops out, chances are I will be using the
newsgroups, or get a virus, or try to install a program from the internet.

QQQQQQQ: What if I backup just the system state? What other folders do I
need to choose to get the quantity and qualtity of the backup equal to just
this one program (Win2000)?

This is Win 2000s help definition of system state:

In Backup, a collection of system-specific data that can be backed up and
restored. For all Windows 2000 operating systems, the System State data
includes the registry, the COM+ Class Registration database, and the system
boot files. For Windows 2000 Server, the System State data also includes the
Certificate Services database (if the server is operating as a certificate
server). If the server is a domain controller, the System State data also
includes Active Directory directory services database and the SYSVOL
directory.

See also Active Directory; domain controller; registry; SYSVOL.

QQQQQQQQ: This a seperate question: I cannot create a floppy emergency
repair disk. I have tried and if anything has ever worked, I get a NDLR not
present, or something error on booting. I have an NTFS HD, and (regular)
floppies
