C A L L F O R P A P E R S
The 2nd Annual Workshop on Intelligent Pervasive Computing
in conjunction with
The 2004 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
(IC-AI'04)
The 2004 International Conference on Embedded Systems and Application
(ESA'04)
The 2004 International Conference on Wireless Networks (ICWN'04), and
The 2004 International Symposium on Web Services and Applications
(ISWS'04)
June 21-24, 2004, Monte Carlo Resort, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
WORKSHOP THEME
Pervasive computing can be defined as anytime anywhere availability of
computing resources and services unobtrusively embedded in the
environment. In its essence, pervasive computing uses web technology,
portable devices, wireless communications and nomadic or ubiquitous
computing systems. Intelligent pervasive computing focuses on merging
intelligent and agent-based system with the pervasive computing
paradigm. This workshop will cut across several major computer
science areas and focus on new developments in such areas as wearable
computing, peer-to-peer networking, intelligent embedded and
internet-enabled devices, wireless technology, and distributed
intelligent problem solving.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
* Pervasive agent technologies and multi-agent systems
* Intelligent peer-to-peer networking
* Architectures for intelligent pervasive computing
* Intelligent environments
* Smart devices and smart spaces
* Personalized applications
* Integration of wired and wireless networks
* Intelligent mobile / wireless computing systems and services
* Context based and implicit computing
* Speech processing / advanced computer vision
* Intelligent user interfaces and interaction models
SUBMISSION INFORMATION
Authors are invited to submit draft papers of not more than 6 pages of
double column text using single spaced 10 point size type on 8.5 x 11
inch pages, as per IEEE 8.5 x 11 manuscript guidelines
(http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm). The first page of the
draft paper should include: title of the paper, name, affiliation,
postal address, E-mail address, telephone number, and fax number for
each author. The first page should also include the name of the
author who will be presenting the paper (if accepted) and a maximum of
5 keywords. Authors should submit a PostScript (level 2) or PDF file
that will print on a PostScript printer.
All papers will be evaluated for originality, significance, clarity,
and soundness. Each paper will be refereed by at least two
researchers in the topical area. The camera-ready papers will be
reviewed by one person. All papers will be published in the
conference proceedings by CSREA Press (ISBN) in hardcopy. Some
accepted papers will also be considered for journal publication (soon
after the conference). All conference proceedings published by CSREA
Press are considered for inclusion in major database indexes that are
designed to provide easy access to the current literature of the
sciences.
CATEGORIES OF ACCEPTED PAPERS
* Regular Research Papers
7-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings.
20-minute formal presentation slot.
* Regular Research Reports
7-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings.
Presentation in an informal setting (during Discussion Sessions.)
* Short Research Papers
4-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings.
Presentation in an informal setting (during
Discussion Sessions.)
* Posters
1-page IEEE-style publication in the proceedings.
Presentation in an informal setting (during Discussion Sessions.)
CONFERENCE INFORMATION
The 2004 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
(IC-AI'04), which is the primary venue for the workshop, as well as
The 2004 International Conference on Embedded Systems and Applications
(ESA'04), The 2004 International Conference on Wireless Networks
(ICWN'04), and The 2004 International Symposium on Web Services and
Applications (ISWS'04), are conducted in the framework of The
International Multiconference in Computer Science & Computer
Engineering, which is a major annual international research event.
The last Multiconference attracted over 1,650 computer science and
engineering researchers from 78 countries. It is anticipated that The
2004 International Multiconference will attract about 2000
participants. The 2004 event is composed of 18 major conferences -
attendees will have full access to all 18 conferences' sessions &
tracks.
