I recently decided that I really needed to learn Java for financial reasons. My day job requires me to have skills I would probably pass up otherwise and I'm beginning to feel a bit outdated. This probably isn't that good because I also feel a bit expendable at my current day job right now. I have worked with Java off and on for a few years, but I've never really gotten comfortable with it. I like it more than I like C++, but I prefer Lisp or C over it for most things. It has always seemed to have most of the disadvantages of Lisp and most of the disadvantages of C all rolled into one. Now I know that the language has a sweet spot somewhere. It must really shine for some things, and being portable is really nice. So it's time to buckle down and learn a new language, one that does have a number of advantages over Common Lisp for many applications. I would like to see how to take advantage of the language when used for artificial intelligence programming. I'm really looking for a book like Peter Norvig's, "Paradigms of Artificial Intelligence Programming: Case Studies in Common Lisp" (just mentioned in another thread), but for Java. Does such a work exist? Does something similar? -- Kenneth P. Turvey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Artificial Intelligence Algorithms Wiki http://ai.squeakydolphin.com [ comp.ai is moderated.
