CFP for Special Session on Evolutionary Optimization in Dynamic Environments for CEC2004

**********************************************************************
                         CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Session on Evolutionary Optimization in Dynamic Environments
            2004 Congress on Evolutionary Computation
Portland, Oregon, USA 19-23 June 2004
**********************************************************************

Many real-world optimization problems are non-deterministic and
subject to changes over time, either with respect to the objective
function, the decision variables, some environmental parameters, or a
combination thereof. For dynamic optimization problems, the goal of an
optimization algorithm is no longer to find a (stationary) optimal
solution, but instead to continuously track the optimum in the dynamic
environment. This presents serious challenges to traditional
optimization techniques as well as conventional evolutionary
algorithms. In recent years, solving dynamic optimization problems has
received an increasing interest from the evolutionary computation
community. A variety of approaches have been developed to address this
 issue.

The special session aims at bringing together researchers from
academia and industry to review the most recent advances, exchange
latest ideas and explore future directions in the field of
evolutionary algorithms for dynamic optimization problems. Topics of
interest may include (but are not limited to):

. Benchmark problems and performance measures
  . Dynamic multi-objective optimization
  . Adaptation, learning, and anticipation
  . Search for robust solutions
  . Comparative studies
  . Hybrid approaches
  . Theoretical analysis
  . Real-world applications

Papers should follow the same formatting as CEC2004 regular papers,
and should be submitted in PDF format by email DIRECTLY to the session
organizers for review, and NOT through the regular CEC2004 procedure.
Manuscripts should be submitted before 31 January 2004 and should not
exceed 8 pages. Special session papers will be treated in the same way
as regular papers and included in the conference proceedings.

 Submission deadline: 31 January 2004
Notification of acceptance: 15 February 2004
Final copy due: 1 March 2004
 Conference: 19-23 June 2004
