>I'd love (as would we all) to be able to let the computer do my coding for me! After a little looking around (and reading the FAQ), I think what I should look into is "genetic programming" or "automatic programming". It seems to focus on creating cellular automata and finite-state machines that change their encoding rules with the use of a fixed-lengthgenome. It's a little tricky to do Google searches on this topic, since "genetic", "algorithms", "automatic", and "programming" all show up in the *oddest* places. Why couldn't they have come up with a better name? I found a few good books: "Foundations of Genetic Programming" Riccardo Poli John Koza's "Genetic Programming" series "Genetic Programming: An Introduction" Wolfgang Banzhaf "Evolutionary Algorithms... Recent Advances" K. Miettinen and best of all "Grammatical Evolution" Michael O'Neill Patrick Kellogg [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.patrickkellogg.com
