Semantics means the study or theory of meaning, so yes they are quite
related. Semantics of a sentence is meaning of a sentence, so when you
say something like "meaning depends on physical interactions" you join
the crowd of deep semantics theoreticians. :)

How is it that (the existence of) physical interactions are a
necessary and sufficient condition for the emergence of meaning?
Please analyze both.
