For some time now, participants at the Darwinian Poetry website (link follows), have been voting on somewhat random strings of words/phrases.
These "poems" basically started off as a jumble of nonsensical
phrases, but those that receive votes are allowed to "mate" with others
or mutate (bringing in a new word here or there). Although still in its
infancy, several "species" have developed and 15 generations have come about. One of my favorites is:

*women unknown and
*thousand flown always without heard
*be like with shroud
*miserable
*
*life in what eyes shall go divine

Almost makes sense, doesn't it?
Well, participation has dropped off and thus this posting. If you have
an interest, visit the following link:

p.s. some of my favorite evolved phrases:
"love pumping tractor" & "thumping penguins"

mmm. 1000 monkeys, 1000 type writers. 1000 humans evaluating
combinatorially explosive output.......????

Only in this case, if you like a poem, you give the monkey a banana and the monkey lives. Other monkeys will die off unless their poems are better in a 1-1 contest. So, not random
