Hi guys, I am working on Jess ( A Java based rule Engine) as a rule base system to execute the control of HVAC systems. I wonder if there are any papers out there on Rule Based Systems and their advantages which I can start reading or something. It seems to me most modern controls are already very advanced (most HVAC controllers have very advanced classical control hardwares which can do the job very well) and can do the job very well. I am hoping for any suggestions or recommended papers which can shed some light what Rule Based Systems can do but current classical control cannot. If it is not possible to find such advantage, perhaps if RBS can do some slight improvement over current classical control, it will be just as fine. I have to justify and motivate my decision to use a Rule Based System, if possible, specifically why Jave based Rule engines like Jess. It is not necessary to conclusively point that RBS are better or more superior but , hopefully I can find something that can shed some light on their differences and merits of RBS in relation to current classical control. Many thanks !!
