If you don't have any luck with the scanning and OCR image fiddling options, you might have luck with photoshop - work with a few sample pages until you find the process that creates the clearest image (I guess the threshold filter is a good place to start)- then you can save the entire process as an action and batch process all the files before sending them to the OCR software -Derek
