I'm not sure to what aspect you are refering as geometric. You might try reading about "CiteSeer" (try the search on Google). It's a project by NEC (and others?) that automatically grabs annotations from scientific papers and relates them in several ways (kind of like Google's PageRank technology). Good luck!
