Just take cellular automata as an example. This model belongs to ALife and
has a wide range of useful applications, e.g. Physical Computations
(Lattice gas methods for computational fluid dynamics), signal processing,
therotical computation models, modeling and simulation of economic,
ecologic and social problems or art (Langton's ant), etc..
