True love connects one's mind with another's mind. The latter state is perhaps the closest humans have ever come to disproving solipsism. For if others don't exist, then we can never love anything more than merely our perceptions of others. You hear that sometimes from couples -- a lady complains "He's in love with a 'me' that doesn't exist, or that exists solely in his head. He has built up this... image of me... and fallen in love with that instead." (Hey, that rhymes). If our study of Mind is limited to using infatuated people, then I doubt we would learn enough about Mind to build conscious AI. Strange that love should be a strong antidote to solipsism... the force that brings people together and merges them into one is also the same force that shows that one does not exist solely by oneself.
