Robert, Check out www.dtdns.com. I've used them for years. They are a third party DNS service and they have several programs available for download which will check your IP address every so often (seconds, minutes, hours) and update their DNS servers automatically. You or your friends will never know your IP address has changed. It's cheap, $20 bucks per year and they are very reliable. In the years I've used them I don't think they've ever been down.
