NOTES

The Mondays at 9 CONTEMPORARY JAZZ ORCHESTRA gig ($5) has returned to
Jazz at Pearl's, 256 Columbus Avenue (291-8255) under the management
of Kim Nalley and Steve Sheraton. Food available 'til Midnight.

The Tuesdays at 9:30 COLLECTIVE WEST JAZZ ORCHESTRA, usually a
docette, continues at Foley's Cellar and Speakeasy ($3), 243 O'Farrell
Street but you must call 954-0777 to confirm before going. Foley's
Irish House, in a wise and correct business decision, sometimes kicks
the band out. There is room to dance but be sure to take your own
partner.

Every First Tuesday; 9:30-12, $10
REALISTIC ORCHESTRA at Bruno's, about 20 pieces playing electronic and
experimental, not traditional, big band music, breakbeats, drum 'n'
bass, HipHop, and jazz under the leadership of Adam Theis. The March
25 gig was a blast. So were the subsequent ones. There is no place to
dance.
        I have attended many of this band's gigs and reached a conclusion:
        It is not the cutting edge of modern music: It's the goddamn tip o'
the knife!

Thursdays at 9, $5
HAMMOND B-3 ORGAN NIGHT (Soul, Jazz, Funk, and Boogaloo promised)
Foley's Cellar and Speakeasy, 243 O'Farrell Street, 954-0777. There is
room to dance but take your own partner.

            A dancing San Franciscan Leading dancers to dances;
            Following dance promoters to success;
            Groovin' on the baadest sounds.
