From what i can remember reading in the press at the time, and perhaps
others can add something to the story, back in 1978 the infamous HOLLYWOOD
sign on the hills had a damaged O letter. So our man Alice donated some
money ( was it $5000?) to have it repaired.
Alice said that he would donate one the Os out of his name as a symbolic
gesture and would then be known as Alice Coper (until it was repaired). He
then said that his donation "was one for the rockers".
