sorry if this gets posted twice...been having problems forwarding messages: Wheels of dead people ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) wrote: >Too bad Bimbo Spears got it first, No. Not really. It's not a race. I think it's more important as a long term thing. It's great to know that the Walk Of Fame will always be a part of Hollywood in years to come and that Alice is part of it. I would agree with you that it would be ludicrous if someone like Kiss got into the RnR Hall Of Fame before Alice (which I don't see happening)...but I honestly don't think that applies here. Alice could have/should have gotten his star back in 1978 when he saved the Hollywood sign. I'm not sure why it didn't happen at that time. >kinda lowers the bar a bit when >it comes to prestige, Not at all. If anything, it RAISES the bar. Britney is not a star. She is a SUPERSTAR. She's sold more tickets and albums at the age of TWENTY ONE than most artists do their whole career. The Walk of *Fame* is for *stars*. She has *fame* and she's a *star*. To think otherwise is silly. She is a MUCH bigger star than some others that have gotten stars. So I'll say it again, she raises the bar. >The Coop should have gotten it "Years Ago". True. But it doesn't really matter now, does it? Nice that he's getting it. And if anything, might be kind of nice that he's getting it at a point where a lot of people's awareness of Alice is low and they don't realize how active in rock n roll he still is. Right? >At >least he earned it. Why did she get it anyway??? Have you been living under a rock? Do you think the stars should only go to people that you like or just to people that are over the age of 50??? She's got a star because she MORE meets the qualifications. She has made a significant mark and contribution to the world of entertainment and has participated in community and charity events. The idea of the Walk of Fame is not just to acknowledge the accomplishments of various people in the industry (including behind the scenes people) but it is to promote Hollywood itself and to boost tourism. Someone like Britney is exactly what they want for all of that. Very simple, actually. >The years most >commersialized product ?? That's a really naive comment. You could say the same thing about someone like Tom Cruise. Are you going to say that Tom Cruise shouldn't be on the Walk Of Fame? Funny thing is...that's the exact same phrase that a lot of people and critics used about Alice Cooper in 1973 and "Billion Dollar Babies" being a "commercialized product". Ironic, ain't it??? A lot of people would have said giving Alice a star back in 1973 would have lowered the bar when it comes to prestige. It's all a matter of logic. Not personal prejudices and knee-jerk reactions without thought.
