I'm using a ghetto ass Blue Tube so it's all good!

That's not what I meant... if you're coming out of the mixers main outs,
you're definetely hitting all the electronics. This may be unavoidable on your
unit, but on some small mixers like the small Mackie VLZ's you can take an
insert point right out after the preamps, thus bypassing the mixer. Usually
these are so you can patch in a coompressor or other insert and bring it back
into the mixer but who says you need to bring that signal back in? That the
sunavabitch right to your recorder inputs! lot's of people do it this way with
the Mackies, never actually "mixing" on them.

If you have to come out of the mains don't sweat it! Use what you got as
best you can. I was just pointing out that you can get an increase in sound
quality if the option were available. You can always add a dedicated preamp
later.

If you are only using it on guitar, why run it through the patch bay at
all?
