SFV: Simple File Verification can be performed with .sfv file using
Quick SFV which can be downloaded at
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Mouse/4668/.  It checks file
integrity but doesn't repair it.

PAR's...............: Par's are to be used by Windows users to check
file integrity and rebuild incomplete or missing files. You can
download Smartpar from
http://www.disc-chord.com/smartpar/downloads.html. To use smartpar you
will need as many .PXX files as missing files.  The "PAR" file is used
only as an index for the PXX files and is not necessary. If you
already have all of the mp3 files you do not need to download the par
files. Other parity checkers/file rebuilders are 1) QuickPAR from
http://www.pbclements.co.uk/QuickPar and 2) Mirror.exe from
http://www.smr-usenet.com/software/misc.shtml.

There's a PAR video on alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.audiobooks I posted
last week.
